Ministry of Sound D&AD Typographic Posters.

London's Iconic nightclub, Ministry of Sound required 3 typographic posters producing for their famous music event, Saturday Sessions. These posters would be displayed for a month each, over a 3 month period. My first research into the nightclub scene introduced me to the bright colours and lights used within the venues, also the clothing worn by many clubbers use bright neon colours, standing out especially well against the darkness of the areas.
I produced a type design based on the geometric and folded shapes used on many Ministry of Sound posters as well as the colour palette commonly associated with the club.
I cut and folded brightly coloured folded squares of paper to create the characters. The shapes and folds created suggest movement and energy, something I elaborated on to give a bigger connection to the dancing and the dynamism of the club later in the development.
I wanted to introduce a 3D element to my poster, to do this I decided to print and then cut out the letters from the poster, leaving the folds of the letters attached would bring the depth I was looking for.
